Solstice: The River of Light

Falling, a delicate perfection of crystalline snow

arranges itself on all living things.

The time is right.

Mother nature calls her children

to return to the cocoon.

Each silently slips into a suspension of light

under the protection of snow and earth,

close to The Mother’s warm breath.

As we curl into the stillness,

a sense of presence carries us,

the crescent light fades and we drift inward.

The substance and scent of blankets

remember winter songs and the voices of the old ones.

In stillness, rare streams of morning light

reveal the spring yet to come

held inside, a living seed

knowing more than we know now.

The absolution of the darkness

accompanies us further in, to a peaceful landing

as if laying in a spirit guided canoe.

Gliding downstream, gently rocking, rest is given.

Beauty rises from the waters around us and inside us.

The darkness reveals truths unnoticed before,

now outlined in golden light.

Shadows that frightened, reveal simple messages,

deep reluctances that hurt show their faces...

tear stained, angry or shy, accustomed to hiding.

Softening long held resistance, a glint of light opens.

Finally seeing their innocence, we cradle our soul children

offering them the love we couldn’t give before.

Ruptures quietly begin coming back together

sweet fragments and blessings lost or forgotten

begin returning home.

Welcome them, arms open..

A disappearance of what we were

into something unfettered, free,

slipping into new light being

that we don’t recognize yet somehow know,

as the energy gently lifts us

into a new found grace..

All is not lost from the ancient wounds and wisdom that called us,

as soul elements to be cherished meld into the new.

While journeying on this sacred ground,

the New Moon has circled once again

and the darkness releases its blessings.

The light begins its return,

a reverence touching all living things.

Deeply know the river was always carrying you..

the river of light.  Gaze into it and see

a reflection of the new light in you.
