you rise from sleep with a thought

that this is the day you expected.

Yet this day, that seeming inconsequential act

rises into an unsettling possibility

that this could be a new day,

one you haven’t experienced before.

Awareness seeps in that you have a choice

to follow the habitual version of yourself,

of your life… Or

to go right to the door, open the door,

feel the breeze, the sun on your face,

and decide to walk out that door

without knowing,

without needing to know

why…

Discover a movement in your chest

a quiet voice saying yes

keep walking

I’ll show you the way to listen

to listen

just keep walking

breathing in this rare air

trusting the ground you walk on

that the Mother, the mothering earth

is holding you, always has, always will

Taking that simple yet courage building step

face forward while slow breathing

I hear Yes, I am doing this

I loosen the invisible bindings

allowing newness,

a kindling flame moving through me

Not needing to understand

only feeling this step

my feet on the welcoming earth

absolutely safe and blessed.

Blessed by my willingness

to listen to a new thought and not be frightened

as is the habit

but saying yes to it

as I walk into this

astonishing new something with no name

yet it comes rippling from a deep recess of treasure within

a previously undiscovered willingness

to take the next step

into this life

which is mine

which now stretches out

as a possible horizon

inside me

before me
