My Prayer to Life

This day I express my gratitude for the magnificence of creation.  For the intricacies in the design of the web of life.  I deeply receive the teaching that all things, all forms of life are interdependent, the teaching that the core essence of creation, of life, is Infinite love. This love joyfully expresses in infinite expressions of life forms, each giving of itself in order to make possible the regeneration of more life and more joy.

To acknowledge the uniqueness of different life forms is also to see the humble earnestness in each fulfilling its purpose in the whole of creation.  In this way, if one listens deeply, one can hear the humming of life in all kingdoms of nature and in the human kingdom as well. When in balance, each kingdom is in accord with all other kingdoms in a vibration you can call harmonics, or a harmonic convergence.

As we humans return to an awareness of the fragility of this web of which we are a part, we strengthen our resolve to tenderly care for the terrains of life we have been gifted with, as a mother nurtures her child, as a farmer cares for his fields.  Each part nourishes the creation of life, and its continuation.

Nourishing and sustaining the expanse of earth and sky we have been given on loan is a gift to future generations.  May we pass on the gift of wholeness and balance from our life choices, as we care for each other and our earth home.

My praises for life and for the earth are filling up and spilling over…. This fierce love heals my heart when it sorrows for the world.  May it also help heal the heart of Mother Earth, whom I love with unbounded love.

A celebration of life from e.e. Cummings:

“i thank You God for most this amazing

day; for the leaping greenly spirits of trees

and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything

which is natural which is infinite which is yes

(I who have died am alive again today,

and this is the sun’s birthday; this is the birth

day of life and love and wings; and of the gay

great happening illimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing

breathing any-lifted from the no

of all nothing-human merely being

doubt unimaginable You?

(now the ears of my ears awake and

Now the eyes of my eyes are opened)”

-e.e. cummings

Sophia’s comment:

I read this poem on my birthday every year, as a way of celebrating my life and expressing gratitude for the amazing beauty of life itself.
